"로그인이 필요 없습니다"

오늘은 대박 사이트를 소개하려 합니다. 많은 부모님이 아이를 미국 교과서로 공부 시키면 어떨 까라는 생각 해 보셨을 겁니다. 여러가지 학습지와 문제집들..그리고 학원에서 배우는 책들을 보면 교과서 만큼 효과가 바라 보이는 참고서는 없었습니다. 여러분도 알듯이 미국 초등학교도 1학년부터 6학년 까지 있습니다. English language Arts가 영어이고, history-social science 가 역사와 사회, mathematics 가 수학, science 가 과학입니다. 

여기서부터 보통 학원에서는 추가적인 숙제와 읽은 내용을 확인 할 수 있는 문제들을 아이들에게 나눠줍니다. 

저는...아이들이 그 단어들과 배운 내용을 재미있게 공부 시키지 않으면 아예 공부를 하지 않을 거 같습니다. 아이 입장에서는 이미 읽은 내용들은 학교에서 배운 내용입니다.  그걸 붙잡고 문제를 풀고, 단어를 외우게 하면 초등 영어 원서/교과서책을 보는 차체에 대한 흥미가 떨어질 것입니다.

저희 사이트는 그런 부분을 보안 하기 위한 것이고, 문제를 풀지 않고 단어나 개념에 익숙해 지는 방식을 제시 합니다. 영어를 배움으로 폭 넓게 생각하는 것이 필요한 것이지, 개념을 외우는 게 필요하지 않습니다.

 

영어 교육은 모든 과목들을 배우고, 이해하고, 학습해야 전체적으로 늘 수 있습니다.

왜냐면, 같은 단어라도 과학에서 쓰이는 방법과 영어에서 쓰이는 것, 역사/사회에서 쓰이는 쓰임새가 다 다르기 때문이죠. 영어 단어나 문장의 늬앙스를 이해하려면 모든과목의 공부를 시작 하셔야 공부의 효율을 극대화 할 수 있습니다.

저는 초등학교 수학도 하면 좋지만, 넘어가도 괜찮다고 생각합니다. 근데 중학교,고등학교 수학은 그러면 안돼요. 

미국 수학은 문제를 푸는 방법을 "증명" 해야 합니다. 단순히 문제를 푼 식을 쓰는게 아니고, 그걸 문장으로 풀어서 보여줘야 하는 내용이에요. 대학 갈 때, 대학 수학에서 아주 중요하게 여기는 부분입니다.

역사/사회 (social study)

얘기하는 주제가 다양하고 아무래도 현지에 사는 아이을 위한 영어 교과서이다 보니까, 지역사회에 대한 내용도 들어가 있더라고요. 

간단하게는 1학년때 지역 사회와 기본 권리, 2학년에는 정부와 경제, 3학년에는 인종/시민권/경제 활동, 4학년 지역 변화, 5학년 서부/남부/동부 발전, 6학년 메소포타미아/이집트/인도/중국/로마 문명 입니다. 

미국에서 사회와 역사를 이해하는 것은 문화를 이해하는 데 가장 중요한 부분입니다. 제 경험으로는 영어를 잘하는 만큼 중요해요. 특히 미국시민의 기본 권리/지역차이/미국 이민자와 민족들 사이에 분쟁/흑인 노예문제 같은 부분은 미국 애들이 아주 자주 거론 하는 것들입니다.

1학년

공부 방법 

 

일단 사전을 찾지 않고 책을 3번 정도 읽어 주세요. 최대한 많이 읽을 수록 좋겠죠. 그리고 사전 찾지말고, 모르는게 있으면 맨 끝에 Glossary나 영영사전을 사용해 주세요. 다 읽고 제가 글을 썻던 사이트를 들어가 학년을 고르시고, 액티비티 같은 것을 찾아 주세요,

정리

책이 옛날 버전이지만, 그동안 여러분이 공부시키 실려고 샀던 비싼 영어원서들 ㅠㅠ 만큼 많은 내용을 포함하고 있을 거라고 생각 합니다. 

저 제가 이 블로그를 시작하게 된 이유는 한국에서 가르치는 영어 교육이 너무 과장 되고, 선별적이기 때문이에요.

그렇다고 해서 진짜로 아이들의 수준을 고려 해서 진행하지도 않습니다. 

한국에서는 영어 원서/교과서 나도 몇만원씩 하니까, 그냥 이 글 보시고, 그 돈으로 아이들 고기 사주세요. 

edition이 차이가 난다고 해서, 최신 교과서와 옛날 교과서가 큰 차이가 나지 않습니다. 그리고 블로그에 충분히 그 갭을 커버할 수 있는 다양한 정보를 올릴거고요. 

무엇보다도, 주변에 가정형편이어려운 아이들에게 영어를 배우는 것이 꼭 돈이 있어야만 배울 수 있는 것이 아니였으면 좋겠습니다.
